Pinnacle Weapons are legendary guns in Destiny 2 that are meant to be exclusive to those Guardians that are willing to dedicate themselves to their chosen craft. In past seasons, they were mostly available to Crucible players who were rewarded with the Luna’s Howl. In Season 5, Bungie has added three new Pinnacle Weapons, this time focusing on Crucible, Vanguard, and Gambit areas of gameplay. This guide will show you how to obtain the Breakneck, the Pinnacle Weapon for the Gambit mode.

Breakneck – Gambit Pinnacle Weapon

Bungie describes the Breakneck as a precision kinetic Auto Rifle with the unique perk Onslaught: “This weapon’s rate of fire increases as you stack Rampage.”

When the plan was made to create more pinnacle weapons for a variety of activities and not just the Crucible, we had to think of something that would fit the activity. This was intended to be a workhorse for Gambit encounters, where killing large numbers of enemies very fast is the name of the game for a significant portion of it, so something with Rampage was an obvious starting point. Pinnacle weapons occupy an interesting space in the sandbox where we can take what is normally a Legendary-tier effect like Rampage and expand on that idea further. We did it with Outlaw for Desperado, and we’re doing something similar here for Rampage.

How to Get Breakneck

Since Breakneck is the Pinnacle Weapon for Gambit, you’ll start your quest by visiting the Drifter in the tower. He will start you off on the journey and ask you to play lots of Gambit and make good use of Auto Rifles. You must complete the following tasks:

  • 500 Auto Rifle kills
  • 100 Auto Rifle multikills
  • 150 challenging enemies defeated
  • 40 Gambit matches completed

These can be achieved simultaneously, so you should grab your favorite Auto Rifle and get to work in Gambit. Once you’ve completed the requirements, revisit the Drifter to claim your fully masterworked Breakneck.
