Earlier today, Sony announced the PlayStation Classic. Much like Nintendo’s NES & SNES classic consoles they released in recent years, the PlayStation Classic is a mini-PlayStation with 20 games pre-loaded. Here’s everything we know about the PlayStation Classic including the price, games list, release date and more.

PlayStation Classic Games

When the PlayStation Classic launches, it’s going to be loaded with 20 games. As of right now though, only these five games have been confirmed:

  • Jumping Flash
  • Wild Arms

That leaves 15 unconfirmed titles. The original PlayStation is full of some absolute gems so there’s a vast array of titles Sony can choose from. Could we see Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 or 2 on the system? How about Crash Team Racing or Crash Bash? Metal Gear Solid is probably inevitable. Hogs Of War, anyone?

PlayStation Classic Release Date

The original PlayStation launched on December 3, 1994, in Japan. To coincide with the 24th anniversary of the console, the PlayStation Classic will launch on December 3, 2018. Right before the holiday season so it’ll be a perfect gift for someone who grew up with the PlayStation One.

PlayStation Classic Price & Pre-Order

When the revamped console releases on December 3, it will cost $99.99 or £89.99. Here are some links to pre-order:

The Amazon US page isn’t live yet, but we’ll update this post once it is.

PlayStation Classic Resolution & Output

The PlayStation Classic is 45% smaller than the original console and weighs just 170g. It comes with two classic PlayStation controllers and has HDMI output for use with modern TVs. It only outputs at a maximum 720p though, so if you’re rocking a 4K display, it may not look too impressive. The system doesn’t require a memory card though – thankfully, Sony has adopted the virtual memory card format, so the system stores all save progress onboard the machine.
