Monster Hunter: World provides a lot of choices of weapons to use, but only one of them uses the friendly bug, Kinsect. If you decide to venture into the world of Kinsects, you will need to know a few things.
The Insect Glaive is a powerful melee weapon that does slashing damage and allows you to use a Kinsect. The Insect Glaive also allows you to vault up in the air to perform aerial attacks that deal more damage than attacking from the ground, or you can dodge in mid air to get in to a better attack position. The vault is also great when you are trying to mount a monster, as it allows you to mount from a higher position over the normal height of a regular jump.
What Is A Kinsect And How To Use It
A Kinsect is a large bug that rests on your characters arm that can be commanded to attack a monster and bring back its essence. Essence is categorized into four different color coded buffs: Red is attack, orange is defense, white is movement speed, and green is healing. You only have these buffs for a certain amount of time, and collecting more of them with your Kinsect will extend that time.
Upgrading A Kinsect
Just like a weapon, you can upgrade a Kinsect to change its elemental properties and its damage output. To do this, you will go to the Smithy, select Manage Kinsects, and then select Manage Kinsects. From there you can upgrade your Kinsect and decide what path you want to take in the upgrade tree. You can only have one Kinsect equipped at a time, but you can purchase more and have a variety of them to keep in your arsenal. You’ll eventually want to have one for any monster you face. Pairing your Insect Glaive and Kinsect Elemental is a good idea, as it allows you to do even more damage.
Now that you know how to use a Kinsect, it is always best to test the Insect Glaive and Kinsect out so you get a better feel of how to properly use it. It will take some practice to use the Insect Glaive and Kinsect, but once you master it, you will be an unstoppable force and a formidable ally.
