Gearbox Publishing and Compulsion Games have finally given a date for We Happy Few. You’ll be able to pick it up on April 13, 2018. For those not familiar with the game, it takes place in an alternative 1960’s England, where conformity is key. You’re given the choice to fight or blend in with the drug inhabitant population, who don’t take kindly to people who don’t abide by their no so normal rules.
You have the choice to choose from three different characters who have their own unique strengths and their own dark secrets. Each have their own reason for giving up artificial happiness in the form of a drug called Joy.
You can pre-order a digital or physical copy of We Happy Few for $59.99, with a 15 percent discount at participating retailers, and receive the in game Jolly Brolly parasol weapon. If you pre-order from the Microsoft Store, Steam, GOG.com, or the Humble Store, you will also gain access to the alpha version of the game. Windows 10 store customers will receive the alpha version when it’s available for pre-order this fall. PlayStation Store customers will receive a We Happy Few exclusive theme. Early Access and Game Preview Program owners of We Happy Few will receive the full game at no extra cost.
Also announced was the We Happy Few Collectors Set priced at $149.99. This set contains a replica Bobby mas, “You Look Smashing” Lamp, the We Happy Few soundtrack on vinyl, a Joy alarm clock, and a whole lot more.
Steam and Xbox One also received the Life in Technicolour update that brings new Joy effects, improved user interface, reworked AI, and more. It is the final update while the game is in Early Access as Compulsion Games sets its sights on the full release on April 13, 2018.
